About the Board of Directors


Kathie Minden - Chair
• People for Parks allows Kathie to advocate for her interests in community and children.
• Long-time Volunteer Children's Advocate
• Involved in the Rockwood community-building process, and development of the Rockwood "Weed and Seed" collaborative community effort.
• Numerous citizen involvement awards; Gresham Citizen of the Year, 2004.
• Interest in parks and literacy development.

James A. Doig - Secretary
• People for Parks allows James to continue his many efforts towards children and community involvement.
• Graduate of Oregon State University, 1948 in Electrical Engineering
• Portland General Electric (PGE) Retired after 40 years
• Involved in the earliest formation of People of Parks, 1960's
• Member, Rockwood Kiwanis Club, held President and Secretary Offices and led Rockwood Kiwanis Club in three projects at Rockwood Central Park in the 1970's.
• Volunteers 2-3 days a week at the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp for children with disabilities since retirement in 1986.

Jeanette McDermid - Treasurer
•People for Parks allows Jeanette to continue her dedication
towards providing meaningful activity and culture to children.

Bruce Stannard
• People for Parks allows Bruce to pursue his longtime passion of bringing quality parks opportunities to children.
• Long-time Troutdale Parks Advisor Board Member; helped build baseball fields and Imagination Station play area at Columbia Park.
• He started a research program and completed a Master Plan Study of Troutdale Parks, Trails and Facilities.

Roger Meyer
- Project Specialist
Gresham resident since 2001, Roger was president of the Rockwood Neighborhood Association for five years (2003-2008), and president of the Gresham Coalition of Neighborhood Associations in 2006.  Currently a member of Gresham's City Council Advisory Committee on Citizen Involvement.  For 26 years, he was a union cabinetmaker while also maintaining a second career as a community organizer and organizational development consultant with special interests in affordable housing and minority access to the skilled construction trades.  In 1998 he began a "second wind" career as a disability advocate, non-attorney Social Security claimant representative and private wrap-around services case manager to individuals and families with substantial cognitive dysfunction.  Author of the Asperger Syndrome Employment Workbook (2001) and contributing author to several other books, he has been an active keynote speaker, presenter and workshop trainer at state, regional, national, and international autism conferences.  Member of Portland's Independent Living Resources Board of Directors and an advisor to San Francisco's greater Bay Area AASCEND (Autism and Asperger's Syndrome Coalition for Education, Networking, and Development).
